Poison Prevention

Did you know that March is Poison Prevention Month?
Our goal is to help prevent accidental poisoning through public education and awareness programs. A yearly education program is coordinated with the National Poison Prevention Month and is organized to reach children of Oswego County.

All pre-k as well as the k-2nd grade elementary students in Oswego County will receive materials.

The committee provides and coordinates the distribution of informational pamphlets and visuals through the schools in Oswego County and the maternity department of Oswego Health.  In addition, the members participate in public education forums and area health fairs.

This committee works with a small budget, but is successful in reaching as many young children and families as possible. All pre-k as well as the k-2nd grade elementary students in Oswego County received materials.

In 2016, magnets were purchased for all the schools in Oswego County. Through a joint effort with CNY Poison Control, we also provided Information posters.

By the numbers: # of magnets given in 2016 – 5, 091.
